Today my mom, aunty, daughter and I went to visit one of my grandmothers. I have heard that she has not been feeling well but never thought much of it. However, today when I finally saw her it hit me how serious this is. She has cancer (I am not too sure which because I would have teared up if I had found out more about it). It was painful seeing her so weak and unhealthy. I had to do my best to hold back my tears. Can you believe, she only weighs 76 lbs... She is practically just skin and bones. I really wanted her to be able to hold my daughter (who weighs 18 lbs) because it was the first time they have met. But Alyssa was too heavy for her to carry. I really hope that she gets better soon! She's such a good person and very talented! She loves to sew clothes. In the picture below, she made all of my bridesmaids and flower girls' dresses from scratch! How gifted, right? Please pray for her.
Welcome to my personal blog! Here I will be writing about my daily life and other random things that may just pop into my head.

Finally killed my craving!
Ever since I came back home to Hawaii I've been craving for Thelma's dish the Thelma Special! I know it may not look that good but to me I think it's all that and a bag of potato chips! YUM! I already ate half of it. I'll most likely eat the rest for dinner tonight.
Halfway Through!
In about a month I'll finally get to see him again. I can't wait. And he just emailed me saying to expect a phone call in a few days! If you see me, my phone will practically be glued to my hand because I will NOT miss that phone call. I'm glad I've had my family and friends during this time. They really help me out especially when I miss him so. Just a few more years of this and he won't have to leave us anymore! =)

Yay!
I'm so happy. Blogger finally got my new link working for my beauty blog. Check me out at dgsbeauty.com, girls! =D
2 down, 5 to go!
So if you guys recall, my friends and I decided to do our own version of "lent" (Here's the post). We started the bet almost two weeks ago and I've already lost two pounds. I'm so happy. Just five pounds to go. Once I reach my goal weight of 105 lbs I'll be able to reward myself with some new clothes. Haha. =D

Cable bills.
Lately I've been talking a lot to my sister-in-law about finances and it got me thinking of bills we are currently paying and if I could get the company to cut down on a few things. I'm currently in Hawaii for a few months (away from our San Diego apartment). Last month we got billed about $110 from Time Warner on cable/internet we aren't even using.
So I decided to google if the company had an option of putting our cable on hold. Lo and behold they had something called "Seasonal status," which is basically putting your cable/internet/phone on hold for a min of 2 months (max of 6 months). I know I'll probably be home by 2 months but I wanted to see if maybe they could backtrack the seasonal so I could get reimbursed for some of last month's billing. I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier. (I feel so stupid!) Unfortunately, when I called they said they couldn't backtrack and if I do the seasonal and go home earlier than expected there's no way to take the hold off. I didn't like that girl so I hung up and called again in hope of talking a nicer lady. (I always do that. Lol.)
At my next attempt, this lady was much nicer. She told me I could do the 2 month seasonal and if I do get back by August 4th, I just have to call 24 hours in advance and they'll take the code off of my cable box. (They better or I'll be pissed!) So now instead of expecting a billing of $100ish this month it should be $10! Can you believe the price difference. Now I'll always make sure to call the cable company whenever I go to Hawaii so we don't have money taken out for a service we don't use.

Brainy Baby Haul
So yesterday I got a visit from the UPS guy. When I heard him say he had a package for me I started freaking out wondering what I had bought because I just couldn't remember. I could hear it now, my husband laughing/scolding me for buying a useless item, but it was educational items I bought for my daughter! I was very relieved.
Anyways, a few weeks ago Hautelook listed a sale for Brainy Baby items, which I really wanted to get for my daughter. I've never heard of the brand, but apparently it's similar (or maybe even better) than Baby Einstein. So I ordered one of their package deals, which was two books (shapes & colors and animals), two flashcards (123s and ABCs) and four DVDs (all each topic stated). I know my daughter is still young to understand all of this, but I wanted to give it a try. =D Here's a few pictures from my haul.
Have you mamas ever tried these educational items for your child? Do you think they work?
Thanks for reading,
Dinah
