Potential job?

So I'm back in Hawaii and I really want to get a job so I can pay for my own wants and also help my husband put money in our multiple savings.  While browsing the UH job openings I found a temporary job which is just for May - June.  The reason the job is so short is because the money is coming from a special fund.  But I really don't mind b/c that's perfect for me especially since I'll only be in Hawaii until early July.  It'd be great if I get the job especially since I have worked at UH for several years and know how the campus operates.  So we'll see what happens.  Wish me luck.

Mother's day and Graduation gift!

I love LOVE my gift from my husband!  The Canon T3i is amazing.  I love the quality of my pictures.  I can't wait to learn more about how to use it and etc from my photography friends.  It was a great investment.  This means I can't make any more huge purchases for the rest of the rest but that's alright.  =)  Here are photos taken with my iPhone 4:

What would I do without him?

I know I've already said this many many times, but I honestly and truly love my husband very much.  He's the best.  He keeps me sane and grounded.  I don't know where I would be without him.  I admit that I have a lot of silly requests on things I want to buy.  My husband will joke around saying "no" but I always know he is considering getting it for me but only after he figures out our finances.  Back in february I bought a Canon for about $400.  Even though its just been two months I really REALLY want the new Canon T3i.  Although my mom is paying for half, my husband gave me the "go" to buy it.  =)  Also, he told me he's considering paying for my cosmetology school I want to take when we get stationed in New Hampshire in about two years from now.  I'm surprised he remembered because I told him about it a few months ago. I would go to an actual beauty school now but I'm traveling a lot and have an infant to take care of. Anyways, I'm just very grateful to have him in my life. I can't wait to be able to spoil him like he does to me once I get my career up and going.

Back to "paradise"

So my daughter and I came back to Hawaii today.  It is nice being w/ my family again b/c they help A LOT with Alyssa.  Also, I love that my friends are just 10 minutes away.  But I hate that I'm away from my husband.  I'm getting use to the navy life, but it never gets easier being a part for my best friend.  I also noticed that Hawaii NEVER changes.  Everything and everyone is still the same.  It's a love-hate relationship.  I just gotta make the best out of it.

Canon Cameras

I absolutely love Canon cameras.  My first digital camera was an old powershot that I bought back in about '05-'06.  Then a few months ago I bought the SX30 IS.  Originally I wanted a dslr, but I had no idea how they operate and such.  Instead I was recommended to get the SX30 IS because it's similar like a dslr, but doesn't have the interchangeable lenses.  Now that I have gotten the hang of my camera, I really want to update to Canon's newest dslr, the EOS Rebel T3i!  I had a chance to play around with the store display yesterday and I was very impressed.  My husband thought I was crazy though and said I can't have it, but I could see the look in his eyes that he was contemplating getting it for me (after he calculates our finances and such).  So today he offered to bring me to the Navy Exchange and buy it.  However, they were currently out of stock.  It's okay though because the worker said sometime this month there will be a sale on it.  So I'll be waiting!  But when/if I get the T3i, I'll need to sell my SX30 IS.  So here I am posting it on craigslist for $400.  If you know anyone interested, please contact me at dinahgr@gmail.com

Currently have: Canon SX30 IS

Really wants: Canon EO5 Rebel T3i

I shouldn't be so nice..

My husband brought me back to reality. As much as I want to forgive people who did me wrong, I shouldn't. Like my husband said don't you still see the knife in your back? Haha. He's blunt but it's true. I'll be cordial if that person approaches me but I'll have my guard up. I'll always remember this saying.."fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."

Chili Bowl!

Its what's for dinner.

'Sanity Fund'

So at the pre-deployment meeting my husband's boat hosted a few weeks back they talked bout the "sanity fund."  I was intrigued when I heard it because I wasn't really sure what that fund was for.  Apparently it's a fund for wives/girlfriends to use while their significant others are away.  Let's face it, when your partner is gone, you get lonely and bored.  The only way to keep busy is to either go out or find a hobby, which usually results in money being spent.  I told myself I would save money while my husband was away, but I found myself making little purchases here and there.  Whoever thought of this fund is genius.  Although I have bought a few things, I'm proud of myself for not spending more.

Alyssa's First Vegetable!

My little girl is growing up so fast!  Next week she'll turn 6 months.  She's been eating rice cereal for about a month now so I think it's time to add more solids to her diet.  Hopefully she'll like the sweet potatoes.

Boon Squirt Baby Food Dispensing Spoon

Yay, babygirl's spoon finally came in today.  I can't wait to use it.  It'll make feeding her very convenient when we're on the good during feeding time or if I just have one hand free to feed her.  I bought it on Amazon for $8.37 plus tax.

Extreme Couponing

The other night I watched TLC's newest show "Extreme Couponing."  After watching this show it has gotten me to start using coupons whenever I shop especially for groceries.  I've never realized how much you could save with coupons.  It's amazing.  Although I doubt I'll use coupons to the same extent as the people in the show, it'll be a great way for me to save.  One lady on the show said by using coupons she managed to save $40,000!  Can you imagine what we could do with $40,000?!  I'm excited to go to the commissary tomorrow to use my coupons now.  Haha.

I love my sailor

Everyday I thank God for bringing my husband to me.  Being new to the military life, it is hard to adjust.  My husband fights for our nation's freedom, but yet he has no freedom for himself.  I also fear that our baby girl won't remember her father when she gets older.  But I know that's the sacrifices he has to make for joining the Navy.

I understand that his job is not easy and it takes up a lot of his time.  When they are underway, we promised to email each other every single day even if it's just a one sentence email.  I've met other wives and sailors who say that they rarely email their significant other because they don't have much time in the day.  This makes me very grateful to have such a wonderful guy.  His emails helps bring a smile to my face and reminds me that I'm one day closer to seeing him again.

She's growing up so fast!

She's finally sitting in her highchair.

Submarine Teething Toy

The wives gave my daughter this cute toy since her daddy is on a submarine.  =)

I love my navy wives

So my husband is in the navy and we got stationed in San Diego about a year ago.  Whenever he goes to sea I'll always run back home b/c I'm too scared and paranoid to stay here alone.  But this time my husband is gone for about a month.  I feel very proud of myself b/c I stayed in SD with my daughter.  I told myself if he's gone for less than 3 months I'll stay here and if it's for longer I'll fly back to Hawaii.  I know this seems like no big deal, but for me it is.  I'm new to the navy life so it's taking me a while to get use to it.  I'm also thankful for the other wives/girlfriends on my husband's boat.  They're a good group of ladies  We've all had get togethers so it could help pass the time by quickly and let us have fun.

Yesterday we had our monthly FRG (Family Readiness Group) meeting.  We talked about events to do after the guys leave for 3 months.  Things to do this coming weekend and more.  I love my girls.  I can't imagine how I would've gotten through this month without them.  <333
